Silver Beaver Nomination Form

The highest award given by a council.

The objectives of our Silver Beaver Colony are:

  • To promote good Scouting in the entire Southern Sierra Council
  • To promote good fellowship among members
  • To assemble and perpetuate a biographical history of the Beavers
  • To promote and complete helpful projects for the betterment of Scouting

The Silver Beaver Award is one of the more prestigious awards made by the Boy Scouts of America. The award is presented by the National Boy Scouts and is the highest award that a local council can bestow on a volunteer for rendering outstanding service to Scout Youth. Established in 1931, the Silver Beaver Award is presented for distinguished service benefitting youth within a BSA local council. More than 50,000 recognitions have been conferred to date.

Scouting programs are possible in the Southern Sierra Council because of the dedicated service of our registered adult volunteers. Annually a special group of volunteers is recognized with the Silver Beaver Award. This is the council-level recognition for distinguished service to Scouting above and beyond unit and district roles. Typically, the nomination and selection are a surprise to the honoree.
